Shanghai China Calligraphy Institute settles in Hongqiao
People in the Hongqiao Central Business District can now enjoy works of the calligraphy masters without traveling far, as the Shanghai China Calligraphy Institute has announced it will establish itself within the district.
On June 6, a contract-signing ceremony was held. The establishment of the Calligraphy Institute is a part of the district’s efforts to no longer just be a business district, but instead be an area with perfect cultural facilities and humanistic elements.
Founded by Shanghai Calligraphers Association and Shanghai Promotion Association for Cultural Artworks Appreciation, the institute aims to research, preserve and promote the art of Chinese calligraphy. The institute also aims to enhance communication among calligraphers from both local cities and other countries to improve Shanghai’s calligraphy level by conducting research, holding calligraphy exhibitions and trainings and by serving as a platform for both calligraphers and calligraphy-lovers to write, study, train, exchange and promote calligraphy.
