As a major industrial project in Shanghai, the global research and development (R&D) center of Innovent Biologics Co, which was built by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, was capped on April 2.
The R&D center is located in the New Hongqiao International Medical Center in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, and covers an area of 169,000 square meters with a height of 60 meters.
The center plans to focus on global innovative drug research and development for cancer, metabolism, immunity, and fundus, aiming to create a globally leading new drug research and development center that integrates scientific research and technology.
During construction, there were some challenges with steel structures, curtain walls, and electromechanical installations while building the center.
Therefore, the construction team applied BIM (Building Information Model) technology to optimize the design on a large scale, make drawing corrections and conduct collision inspections to improve construction efficiency.
Meanwhile, the construction team also adopted the combination of steel structure simulation model technology and total station measurement technology for real-time tracking based on the construction technology of "in-situ assembly +overall lifting" to improve the construction accuracy.
In addition, more efforts were made to ensure safety of the crew. The project team used wireless detection technology to monitor the stress and strain during the installation and unloading of the steel structure in real time, and provided panoramic monitoring of the construction site.
The successful capping of the global R&D center marks a good start for the next phase of construction. Next, the construction crew will install the steel structure and the curtain wall in the atrium, and is expected to be completed in March 2024.
