Xinhong sub-district in Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District launched a series of activities recently to promote aesthetic education and highlight urban life, featuring art, music, cultural heritage items, the environment, as well as sports.

The 2023 Xinhong Cultural Map was released during the event, covering more than 30 cultural spots, including libraries, cultural centers, art galleries, gymnasiums, bookstores, and green spaces.

"We have explored the cultural connotations of all spots on the map and made a video for each. We want to present Xinhong's local charm and create immersive experiences for visitors. There are not only public facilities, but also cultural resources in business districts," said a staff member from the Xinhong culture and sports center.

The map will be displayed at railway stations and shopping malls so that tourists from the Yangtze River Delta region and China can learn more about Xinhong.

During the event, Xinhong also issued plans for this year's cultural and sports activities, such as the collection of photography works throughout the year, reading sessions, sports and fitness skills training sessions, music festivals, the Xinhong Dragon Boat Festival, as well as its fun run.

More than 40 local residents participated in a tour to visit cultural spots on the map and several teams joined a walking activity starting from the Xinhong hall of the Minhang City Study where readers can enjoy services, such as borrowing books and wireless internet access. The Xinhong hall invited experts to hold regular reading sessions in various forms, such as lectures, interviews, interactions, and listening corners.

Artist Du Jiayan exhibited her paintings at the Changshuo Culture Center and presented a visual feast for visitors with her unique perspective, as well as her soft and tense painting techniques. The Sachets Exquisite Museum made intangible heritage inheritance as its focus and displayed scented sachets.
