The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District has launched a series of activities to boost consumption and meet people's needs for urban leisure during the city's Double Five shopping festival, which kicked off on April 29 and will last until the end of June.

A number of landmark spots such as Hongqiao Pinhui, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), Panlong Tiandi, Hongqiao Tiandi Square and the East Hongqiao Center are offering consumers novel goods, state-of-the-art technologies and immersive shopping experiences.

Hongqiao Tiandi has created a digital carnival empowered by hardcore technologies and set up six themed sections: a metaverse amusement park, a Hongqiao game and esports festival, a waste-free planet interactive exhibition, a digital workshop, chat robots and digital consumption. The carnival integrates digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing and 5G into application scenarios of science popularization, cultural tourism and interactive entertainment.

From May 5 to May 19, Hongqiao Pinhui is holding the "Charming Cuba" promotion week to display high-quality products such as Cuban rum, cigars, honey, jam, lobster and sea cucumbers through on-site exhibitions and live e-commerce broadcasts to promote Cuba's trade with China.

An overseas shopping event concentrating on e-commerce along the Silk Road kicks off on May 10 and is expected to help enterprises from different countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to enter the Chinese market, introduce new products through cross-border e-commerce platforms and bolster the country's dual-circulation development paradigm.

From May 26 to 30, the Hongqiao International Coffee Port in the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center is launching the Hongqiao International Coffee Culture Festival and releasing a white paper on the coffee industry.

Under criss-crossing transport networks in modern Hongqiao, there is Panlong ancient town, an area located south of the Yangtze River that has witnessed the ebb and flow of tides for thousands of years.

On April 29, Panlong Tiandi, a Jiangnan-style leisure area combining contemporary art with traditional cultures, was unveiled. It gathers brands from such fields as outdoor sports, Chinese and foreign cuisine, parent-child leisure activities, design, aesthetic retail and catering.
