The Xinhong sub-district in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the New Zealand China International Trade Association.
According to the agreement, the two sides will strengthen information and resource sharing in regional industries and investment and trade promotion. They will also co-host trade promotional activities and boost cooperation in education, culture, sports, and tourism.
In addition, representatives from the New Zealand delegation also reached a tentative cooperation agreement with the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trade Center in introducing mineral water and dairy products.
Officials revealed that a road show for New Zealand's beverage and food ingredients is expected to be held during the Sixth China International Import Expo, which will take place in the Hongqiao CBD.
During the 2024 Spring Festival, a Chinese food exhibition will be held in New Zealand to bring Chinese delicacies to people's dining tables in the island country.
The trade volume between China and New Zealand has kept an impressive average annual growth rate of 15 percent since the two countries signed the Free Trade Agreement. The total amount generated was NZ$38 billion ($23.02 billion) in 2022.
China mainly imports dairy products, meat, wood, fruit, and medical equipment from New Zealand while exports manufactured goods, including electronic products and electric vehicles.
