The preliminary round of the first Shanghai Human Resources Service Innovation and Development Competition for Startups kicked off in the Hongqiao branch of the China Shanghai Human Resources Service Industrial Park on June 28.
Themed "Gathering Talents and Stimulating Dynamism", the competition aims to showcase the achievements of Shanghai's HR service industry, highlight key projects and boost high-quality economic and social development.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Lan, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, said that the competition is focused on four dimensions of innovative development: gathering talents, international HR services, technology applications of digital innovation as well as transformation and business model innovation.
"The competition will deepen structural reform of the supply side of HR services, strengthen market-oriented employment and talent services, stimulate market vitality, promote the smooth and orderly flow of labor and talent, and provide strong support for the construction of Shanghai as an international metropolis," he said.
The preliminary round featured 34 projects. One first prize, four second prizes and 10 third prizes were given out during the following stages.
The HR service industry is of great significance to promote employment and serve economic and social development. As of the end of 2022, there were 3,609 HR service agencies in Shanghai that hired 68,300 employees and had a combined operating income of 471.93 billion yuan ($65 billion).
