The 2023 Game Business Conference was held in Jiangqiao town, Jiading district in Shanghai on July 26.
The event was aimed at boosting the innovative development of the game industry by facilitating exchanges between associations, enterprises, and governments.
The conference was one of the key events of this year's China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference, or ChinaJoy, which took place in Shanghai from July 28 to 31.
The conference comprised a forum on Chinese game industry to go global, a new product exchange meeting for one-on-one business negotiation, a game industry exchange meeting for domestic and foreign cooperation, and a roadshow for original new products.
During the forum on the Chinese game industry, representatives from companies such as Mihoyo, NetEase Games, and KingNet shared their overseas expansion experiences.
The new product exchange meeting for one-on-one business negotiation and the roadshow for original new products allowed research and development enterprises to showcase their products and distribution enterprises to better understand the products.
During the game industry exchange meeting for domestic and foreign cooperation, representatives from foreign game associations and organizations introduced the overseas game market and game industry management policies. They also shared their experiences about Chinese games going global.
Jiangqiao town is now home to over 200 game companies, including industry leaders such as FunPlus and EWORLD. Fifteen of these companies have an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan ($140 million), and six have an annual output exceeding 5 billion yuan. The town is projected to generate a tax revenue of more than 60 million yuan this year.
