The National Development and Reform Commission on July 28 released the list of national logistics hubs to be built in 2023. The Shanghai airport logistic hub was included in the list.
The Shanghai hub consists of the Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao international airports.
The hub plans to strengthen its links with the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Hongqiao International Open Hub, the large aircraft assembly industrial cluster, and the China International Import Expo platform, to serve the industrial cluster and air logistic demands of the Yangtze River Delta and the whole nation.
The Pudong area will serve as a compound international air cargo hub and consist of five functional sectors, including an airport cargo area, an air-rail intermodal transportation area, a bonded area, a customs supervision area, and a temporary storage area.
The Hongqiao area will serve as the domestic trunk line air express hub, featuring three key functional areas, including a domestic freight area, an international freight area, and a bonded exhibition trade area.
