The total value of Shanghai import and export in the first seven months of this year was 2.45 trillion yuan ($335.8 billion), an increase of 7.4 percent compared with the same period last year, according to statistics from Shanghai Customs on Aug 16.
The total value is 10.4 percent higher compared with the same period in 2021.
Specifically, exports amounted to 995.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent, while imports totaled 1.45 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6 percent.
In the first seven months, Shanghai had 52,000 foreign trade enterprises with import and export business, an increase of 6.1 percent year-on-year. Among them, foreign-invested enterprises contributed 1.45 trillion yuan, accounting for 59.2 percent of the total value of the city's imports and exports.
Meanwhile, the total value of the imports and exports of private companies was 753.18 billion yuan, an increase of 15.2 percent year-on-year, accounting for 30.8 percent, with the proportion increasing by 2.1 percentage points.
The total value of the imports and exports of State-owned enterprises was 240.68 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3 percent, accounting for 9.8 percent of the city's total.
