Shanghai Hongqiao Station registered a record high single-day passenger volume of 312,000 on Aug 12, according to the station.
From Aug 11 to 19, railway stations in Shanghai handled 4.16 million passengers, up 8.9 percent year-on-year.
To manage the growing number of travelers, the station has been making efforts to further expand its capacity through measures such as reconnection of trainsets and rolling out additional trains, according to Zhang Jianlin, a stationmaster at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.
