During a global investment conference held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on Aug 31, 30 companies from sectors like artificial intelligence, biomedicine, high-end equipment, green energy, exhibition and trade pledged to set up operations in the West Hongqiao Area.
The West Hongqiao Area, which used to be a farmland and home to a number of small companies, has seen enormous changes in recent years. Seizing the opportunities brought by the China International Import Expo, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region and the construction of the Hongqiao International Open Hub, the area has grown into a vibrant business hub that is home to many business headquarters.
In recent years, many major companies like Midea, China Nuclear Engineering & Construction Corporation, State Power Investment Corp, Anta Sports, Yuantong Express and CR Digital have been expanding their presence in this area.
Presently, the West Hongqiao Area is focusing on fostering leading industries such as convention and exhibition, commerce and trade, science and technology innovation, and big health. It is also looking to create industrial platforms such as the Hongqiao International Convention and Exhibition Industrial Park, the Beidou West Hongqiao Base, and the West Hongqiao International Medical Innovation World.
