The 'one city, two wings' layout centers on Qingpu New City and its '1+3' regional plan to rapidly improve urban functions. The '1' refers to the new central business district with three metro line transfers. The '3' denotes zones for urban renewal, future city models and an industrial innovation park.
Regarding transit infrastructure, the 18-kilometer-long Songze Elevated Road shortens the commuting time from Qingpu New City to Hongqiao transportation hub to just 20 minutes. With foundation work completed for the high-speed rail, Liantang Station is set to open in July 2024. Over the past three years, nearly 12 billion yuan ($1.63 billion) has been invested in rural road upgrades across Qingpu.
