The 150-million-yuan ($20.6 million) renovation of Shanghai Dahua Electrical Equipment Co in Jiading district is nearing completion.
Located in the Jiading area of the Hongqiao International Central Business District, the renovated plant is expected to be fully completed in October and put into use early next year.
The renovation started at the end of 2021.
The company specializes in manufacturing power transmission and distribution equipment, as well as providing services for such equipment.
Zhang Yongjun, deputy general manager of production at the company, said the new factory will produce high and low voltage switchgear sets starting from the beginning of next year.
Zhang added that the aim of the renovation was to introduce an automatic production line, robots and a digital management system that would effectively increase production capacity.
The renovation will see the plant, which consists of two four-story buildings equipped with supporting facilities, expanded from 7,850 square meters to nearly 27,000 square meters.
The company's annual output value is expected to increase from 800-900 million yuan to 1.5-2 billion yuan following the renovation.
