As the core of the Hongqiao International Central Business District, the Southern Hongqiao area has seen a surge in popularity this year. The number of people at transportation hubs, attending exhibitions, and coming for business-related visits has risen steadily.
Hongqiao has benefited from Shanghai's measures to revive consumption. In the first half of this year, Southern Hongqiao's economic indicators fared well, with tax revenues reaching 4.817 billion yuan ($0.66 billion), increasing 95.5 percent year-on-year.
This summer, the average daily passenger flow through the Hongqiao transportation hub surpassed 1.3 million. Nearby, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) expects over 20 million visitors this year for more than 50 global exhibitions.
Southern Hongqiao's layout of headquarters, trade centers and recreational areas is taking shape. Its national strategic advantages attract talent and bring strong consumer demand. Emerging consumer behaviors like Citywalk should also be taken advantage of.
As one of the largest shopping centers in Southern Hongqiao, Longhu Shanghai Hongqiao Sky Street will offer more innovative spaces and brands tailored to these trends. The commercial complex recently began comprehensive renovations to reshape itself into a "source of inspiration" for the city. By the end of this month, it will unveil a trendy space for Citywalk, night tours and other diverse offerings.
