A delegation from the International Committee of the San José Department of Uruguay visited the Shanghai Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub on Sept 25.
The delegation, consisted of Ms. Carolina Pistón, director of Sports Affairs in Uruguay, Mr. Lic. Javier Gutiérrez, a legislative member from Uruguay, Marcelo Magnou, the Uruguayan consul general in Shanghai, and other embassy representatives.
During their visit, the delegation toured various pavilions at the trading hub, including the Bonded Exhibition and Sales Venue, GATT, and the Uruguay Import Pavilion. They also visited import pavilions from other countries such as Turkey and Chile.
The Uruguay Import Pavilion, which made its debut at last year's China International Import Expo (CIIE), received recognition for its unique products such as wine, beef, honey wine, and amethyst.
"The prospects for economic and trade cooperation between Uruguay and China are vast. We hope that Uruguay can export more new products to China, and both sides can collaborate in more fields," said Marcelo Magnou, Consul General of Uruguay in Shanghai.
At the upcoming sixth CIIE, a football delegation will be sent to promote Uruguay's sports culture, according to the person in charge of the Uruguay Import Pavilion.
With its rich history and remarkable achievements in football, Uruguay is undoubtedly a great target for cooperation in the field of sports culture.
The Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub, which helps increase the reach of the CIIE, has attracted over 180 overseas merchants from 76 countries and regions.
