Two Nobel laureates, Barry Marshall and Eric Maskin, have confirmed their participation in the sixth Hongqiao International Economic Forum, where they will share their insights into global drug safety and financial innovation respectively.
Themed "Joining Hands in Development, Opening Up for the Future", the forum serves as a crucial platform for global exchanges and is a major supporting event of the sixth China International Import Expo, which will take place from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

Barry Marshall, a Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, will attend the parallel session themed "Global Drug Safety Governance and Chinese Drug Regulatory Practice" and deliver a keynote speech.
Marshall is an Australian medical expert and a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of H. pylori in 2005.

Eric Maskin, a Nobel Laureate in Economics, will attend the parallel session themed "Upgrading Pilot Free Trade Zones Through Financial Reform and Innovation".
Maskin is an American economist whose research interests include game theory, incentive economics, and contract theory. Regarded as one of the most respected economists in the world today, Maskin was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for laying the foundations of mechanism design theory in 2007.
The sixth Hongqiao International Economic Forum will feature a main forum, the "Invest in China Year" Summit, the Press Conference and International Symposium on World Openness Report 2023, as well as 22 parallel sessions divided into four sections: "Opening-up for Development", "Opening-up for Cooperation", "Opening-up for Innovation" and "Opening-up for Sharing".
