Located in the Hongqiao International Open Hub in Shanghai's Changning district, Bio Hill is specifically catered to high-tech, life and health, and artificial intelligence enterprises.
Changning district has been actively promoting the development of key projects like Bio Hill and the United Imaging medical industrial park. Major enterprises such as China National Medical Device, Danaher, and Bettaney have already set up operations within the district.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Changning district has expanded its existing advantageous industries, including aviation services, internet and lifestyle services, and the fashion and creative industries, as well as introduced new key industries such as life and health.
"Empowered by the Greater Hongqiao and Digital Transformation strategies, Changning has developed a life science innovation ecosystem focusing on high-end research and development," said Weng Huajian, deputy head of Changning district.
This ecosystem, he added, complements the Zhangjiang Pharma Valley in Shanghai and the Suzhou BioBAY to the north, and promotes coordinated development and collaborative innovation through synergistic efforts.
"Presently, over 180 high-quality business buildings with a combined office area of approximately 1.85 million square meters have been constructed within the East Hongqiao Area. The overall occupancy rate has exceeded 80 percent," said Sun Yin, deputy director of the East Administrative Committee of Hongqiao International Central Business District.
