The construction of the Shanghai airport line has reached a significant milestone following the successful installation of overhead wires between Hongqiao Station and Qibao Station.
The 68.6-kilometer-long Shanghai airport line passes through three administrative districts, including Minhang, Xuhui, and Pudong New Area, and has nine stations. Trains on this line can achieve a maximum speed of 160 km per hour.
The completion of the Shanghai airport line will dramatically reduce travel time between Hongqiao and Pudong, two major transportation hubs in the city. Commuters can expect to traverse this distance in just 40 minutes.
Furthermore, the line will strengthen the reputation of Pudong and Hongqiao as comprehensive transportation hubs in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. The line is expected to benefit the urban agglomeration in the YRD and play a significant role in enhancing Shanghai's global status and core competitiveness.
