On Jan 23, the Shanghai Space Information Conference, alongside the BeiDou Industry Technology Innovation Seminar, kicked off in West Hongqiao Business District, Shanghai.
With the theme "BeiDou Navigation: Infinite Space", this landmark event marked the signing of significant projects in the BeiDou space information sector, highlighting West Hongqiao's dedication to national strategic goals and the cultivation of cutting-edge industries.
The Beidou West Hongqiao Base, pivotal to China's BeiDou industry technology innovation, began construction in June 2013 and quickly became operational by the year's end. Since then, it has positioned itself as one of China's inaugural BeiDou industrial parks.
In the decade since, the base has stayed true to its core industrial focus while embracing a multidimensional approach to development.
It has played a key role in several national projects, notably the BeiDou Yangtze River Delta demonstration application project, and has been instrumental in the Shanghai satellite navigation and positioning strategic alliance and the BeiDou navigation and location services key laboratory.
Growing from a mere 8 enterprises at its start to now housing over 700, the base boasts an impressive average annual growth rate of about 40 percent in both output value and tax revenue. It has successfully established a complete industrial chain and an innovative, multi-layered industrial ecosystem, thus becoming a significant driver of China's BeiDou industry.
Moving forward, the BeiDou West Hongqiao Base is set to further align with national strategies, capitalizing on its pioneering role and strategic location. Its goal is to expand and refine the West Hongqiao model, turning Qingpu into a leading hub for space information industry development. This will boost the sector's capabilities and spearheading the creation of the Yangtze River Delta's digital backbone.
As the BeiDou West Hongqiao Base evolves, so does the scientific and technological landscape of West Hongqiao Business District. Looking to the future, the district will concentrate on space, intelligent technology, energy, and digital industries.
