Shanghai has officially commenced its fifth Shopping Festival as part of its effort to accelerate the city's status as an international consumption center.
This year's festival, which runs till the end of June, highlights the city's role as a premier destination for global brands to establish their first stores or to debut new products. Since 2018, Shanghai has hosted over 4,500 debut events and introduced 5,840 flagship stores. Notable brands such as Chanel, Miu Miu, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Loro Piana, Balenciaga, and LEGO are among the many high-tier debut events and showcases in April and May.
The city is actively enhancing consumption experiences for visitors. The festival's "55@Shanghai", or “Love Shopping Shanghai”, activities offer incentive packages, including discounted air, cruise, and high-speed rail tickets, to enrich the experience for tourists visiting Shanghai and boost consumption, particularly international visitors.
Featuring 15 major benchmark IP events, the festival integrates commerce, tourism, culture, sports, and exhibition events to elevate the quality of service consumption and drive integrated development across sectors. Notable events include the Leyou Shanghai Art Season, the Shanghai Longhua Temple Fair, May 19 China Tourism Day, and the Shanghai Sports Consumption Festival.
Following the Shopping Festival, Shanghai will host the inaugural Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season, presenting 65 high-quality concerts, music festivals, art performances, exhibitions, and major sports events to further enhance the city's service consumption.
