The 2024 Shanghai Silk Road E-commerce Carnival officially commenced in Hongqiao on May 7 and is scheduled to run till May 17. The event promises a vibrant showcase of merchandise from Silk Road partner countries, along with a series of engaging activities.

In an effort to accelerate the development of Shanghai as a pioneering area for Silk Road e-commerce cooperation and deepen e-commerce exchanges with Silk Road partner countries, the event aims to enrich e-commerce consumption offerings, facilitate trade connections, and enhance international and regional cooperation in Silk Road e-commerce.

The opening ceremony on May 7, attended by government officials and representatives from various organizations, trade promotion agencies, and e-commerce platforms, unveiled themed activities for countries including Chile, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Italy, and Africa. These activities are expected to feature a diverse range of products, live broadcasts, and trade promotions to showcase the unique goods and cultural heritage of these nations.

Strategic partnerships were also announced during the ceremony, such as Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub's collaboration with Alibaba (Shanghai) to enhance online platforms for partner countries.

The carnival is set to offer a wide array of activities, both online and offline, allowing consumers to purchase desired products through e-commerce platforms or live streams and participate in cultural exchanges. Various market events are anticipated to be held across Shanghai, showcasing curated selections of goods from Silk Road partner countries.

With a wide range of activities and collaborations in place, the Shanghai Silk Road E-commerce Carnival promises to be a dynamic platform for promoting international trade and cultural exchange, embodying the essence of the historic Silk Road in a modern context.
