On June 5, the Shanghai Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center organized the "Global Trade Planning and Management" event, focusing on AEO facilitation policies to enhance international trade competitiveness. Representatives from over 20 companies, including Shanghai ABB Motors Co Ltd and Johnson & Johnson (China) Ltd, attended the event.

Experts from the Hongqiao International Central Business District Enterprise Service Center, Xinzhuang Customs, the Hongqiao RCEP Consultation Service Station, and Shanghai O-Tech Information Technology Co Ltd provided detailed explanations on the AEO certification process, as well as its advantages and long-term benefits. Additionally, they discussed free trade agreements (FTAs), global trends, and challenges that Chinese companies face when expanding overseas.

AEO, or Authorized Economic Operator, is a system advocated by the World Customs Organization (WCO) to enhance global trade security and facilitation. Implemented by China Customs in 2008, the AEO system offers preferential treatment to certified enterprises. China has mutual recognition agreements with 26 economies and 52 countries, allowing AEO-certified companies to benefit from multiple preferential policies.

During the interactive session, participants inquired about preparing for AEO certification, potential challenges, and maintaining AEO status. These questions received professional responses, supplemented by case analysis to deepen understanding.

The event offered technical support and policy insights, helping Chinese enterprises optimize their global supply chain layout and tackle international trade challenges amid the shift from regionalization to globalization. To further assist businesses, the Shanghai Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center has established a dedicated AEO certification consultation service, providing one-stop support to improve application efficiency and success rates.
