US-based life sciences and diagnostics innovator Danaher recently unveiled its first product created by a Chinese team for the global market.
The QPix Flex, a cutting-edge microbial cloning device, was manufactured in Shanghai, where Danaher's China headquarters is located.
It is designed to streamline laboratory workflows by automating processes such as pipetting, microbial selection, and color imaging and aims to reduce human error and enhance efficiency in fields like microbiome research, protein engineering, and food safety.
Danaher's research, development and manufacturing base in Shanghai, known as the company's best factory in the world, serves as the production base for QPix Flex. This facility supports over 70 percent of Danaher's global production capacity and is expanding its capabilities.
"The synergy between R&D and production is crucial for timely product launches. China's robust industrial chain and advanced research environment provide fertile ground for innovation," said Andy Hu, president of Danaher's Life Sciences Platform in China.
"The Chinese market offers the broadest range of application scenarios. With a deep understanding of user needs and efficient execution, our Chinese R&D team quickly identifies and addresses potential challenges in product development. Local innovation is a crucial direction for Danaher's future local strategy. By leveraging China's unique advantages in supply chain, policy, and talent, we aim to drive the development of original technologies and bring innovation from China to the world," said Hu.
