Global enterprises are preparing to showcase their latest innovations at the 8th China International Import Expo, which is scheduled for Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

Medical technology company Medtronic, an eight-time participant, plans to unveil over 100 cutting-edge products, six of which will make their debut at the expo.

Among the new products is Inceptiv, a closed-loop rechargeable spinal cord stimulation system, which is designed to treat chronic pain.

Alex Gu, senior vice-president of Medtronic, said that CIIE serves as a bridge connecting international innovations with the Chinese market.

By leveraging the spillover effects of CIIE, the company is set to integrate its global expertise into localized research and development while propelling homegrown breakthroughs onto the worldwide stage, said Gu.

German materials giant Schott Group will introduce natural quartz glass advancements critical for semiconductor manufacturing resilience.

Lifestyle brand Muji will unveil its new hemp collection. By July 31, the company had expanded to 421 stores across the Chinese Mainland.

The booking of business exhibition floor space has already exceeded 330,000 square meters, and 170 enterprises and 27 institutions will attend the event for the eighth consecutive time, said Wu Zhengping, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.

To facilitate procurement, organizers launched a digital procurement platform on Sept 10.

The Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub, a permanent trading platform for the CIIE, facilitates the entry of CIIE products into the Chinese market. Ahead of the expo, Norway, Slovenia, Canada, Russia, and Greece will establish new national pavilions at the hub.

During the expo, Greenland plans to host a CIIE-themed night market outside the expo venue, featuring food, wine, trendy markets, cultural performances, and displays of intangible cultural heritage.
