Simon Lichtenberg, founder and CEO of Trayton Group and president of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China, highlighted the Shanghai Hongqiao International CBD as an excellent spot for companies seeking long-term expansion and a stronger market foothold in China.

Lichtenberg made these remarks during an interview after being named an Honorary Citizen of Shanghai, the city's highest award for foreign nationals, in recognition of his contributions to Shanghai's growth and international ties.

Lichtenberg, who has spent most of his life in China, first came to Fudan University as a student in 1987 and moved to Shanghai in 1993. In 1995, he established Trayton Group, pioneering Nordic furniture design in China. Today, Trayton stands as a prominent foreign-invested furniture manufacturer in the country.

The Hongqiao CBD has been crucial in Lichtenberg's entrepreneurial path. He views it not just as a transportation hub but as a rich environment for expanding his business, highlighting its importance in enabling smooth international operations.

"It is not just a vital gateway connecting Shanghai to the world, but also the core hub of the Yangtze River Delta integration," he said, emphasizing its strategic location.

The CBD features excellent transport connections, located next to an airport and a high-speed railway station. This ensures quick and easy links to domestic cities and international destinations. Its international atmosphere and well-developed facilities support cross-border collaboration and create a great environment for employees to work and live.

As president of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, Lichtenberg encourages collaboration between Danish and Chinese enterprises. His role in the China International Import Expo has increased Danish involvement. This year, he will continue to actively support and promote the expo.

Lichtenberg expressed gratitude for the Honorary Citizen title, viewing it as recognition of his and Danish businesses' efforts in China. "This award strengthens my resolve to deepen our roots in Shanghai," he said.

Lichtenberg, as Shanghai's first Nordic Honorary Citizen, is dedicated to enhancing Denmark-China ties. "Shanghai is a city on the fast track, and I am proud to call it home," he said, expressing his readiness to pursue his efforts in this dynamic city.
