This National Day holiday, Shanghai's Hongqiao 365 became a hotspot for anime fans nationwide, thanks to two major events: the MankaLive and the Only Fan Expo.
These events, with their unique blend of popular intellectual properties and immersive experiences, successfully attracted young audiences and boosted local commerce.
The MankaLive featured top rhythm games like Phigros and Rhythm Master. The event brought together world champions, renowned composers, and top players for three days of energetic performances and interactive experiences. It became a centerpiece for showcasing Shanghai's anime culture and the spending power of its youth.
The event was bustling with activity, attracting not only local players but also many tourists from across the country. Attendees showed remarkable enthusiasm and spending power, with average spending per person exceeding 7,300 yuan (about $1,000). Many participants attended for more than two days, highlighting the event's strong appeal and engagement.
The Only Fan Expo was equally successful, featuring 52 fan booths and a lively trading atmosphere. Fans organized the distribution of a lot of merchandise, demonstrating the power of popular intellectual properties in fostering community participation and creating engaging consumption experiences.
