The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD) has emerged as a pioneering force in the live-streaming industry, making significant strides in high-quality live commerce.
With a globally oriented ecosystem that includes cross-border trade, international talent cultivation, and exhibition-linked streaming, Hongqiao has solidified its role as a key digital trade hub in the Yangtze River Delta.
Leveraging the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in Hongqiao, the "livestreaming plus exhibition" model gained global traction in 2025, with an increasing number of exhibitors using livestreaming to promote their products.
Hongqiao's platforms have enhanced their livestreaming services to further boost the reach of the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trade Center, known as Hongqiao 365, has built a new product selection center, and the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub houses over 70 country-themed livestreaming studios. During the 2025 CIIE, their livestreaming events promoted over 100 imported products to global audiences.
The CBD's pilot zone for "cross-border e-commerce plus industrial belts" includes 345 enterprises and collaborates with Chinese tech heavyweight Alibaba to develop sourcing scenarios.
The CBD also prioritizes global talent development. The "Silk Road Horizon" program trained over 200 participants from 65 countries, complemented by university partnerships that train nearly 600 e-commerce students each year.
Backed by a cross-border data service center and financial subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Hongqiao aims to further optimize its business environment, accelerating the development of a premier product selection base for live streaming industry in the Yangtze River Delta.
