Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD) welcomed nearly 100 alumni from the University of Melbourne, Australia's leading academic institution, on March 28.
The "Welcome Home, Welcome Hongqiao" event, organized by the Hongqiao International Talents Service Center, the Overseas Returnee's Hub and the University of Melbourne Shanghai Alumni Association, concentrated on development opportunities in Shanghai.
Kong Fu'an, an alumnus and executive deputy director of the CBD's administrative committee, underscored the strategic advantages that Shanghai offers for returning talents.
He emphasized the city's unique position as an epicenter of openness, inclusivity, and a world-leading business environment. Kong said that the Hongqiao CBD plays a role in bridging the Yangtze River Delta with the world and offers unique benefits in terms of geographic positioning, policy frameworks, and environmental dynamics. He expressed optimism that alumni could realize their personal and professional aspirations in this dynamic setting.
John Williams, Australian consul-general in Shanghai, praised the university's global reputation and encouraged alumni to utilize their network for career growth and to strengthen China-Australia bilateral relations.
The event included in-depth discussions on careers in artificial intelligence, finance, and technology entrepreneurship, aimed at promoting collaboration and facilitating networking among attendees.
