A first-aid skill competition was held in Xinhong subdistrict, Minhang district, Shanghai on April 21. A total of 30 teams with a total of 90 members entered the finals.
The competition is part of Minhang district's efforts to improve employees' first-aid skills and raise people's awareness of the importance of first aid in society, according to an executive of the district's labor union.
As a host of the competition, Xinhong subdistrict has made great efforts to promote first-aid training in recent years.
The local labor union and the Red Cross organizes first-aid training every year, and more than 2,000 people have taken part in the event.
The district also plans to install Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in every one of the 350-plus office buildings in the core area of Hongqiao CBD within five years.
In addition, a first-aid volunteer service team has been set up to give detailed instructions on how to use the AEDs to employees.
