The first North Hongqiao Cultural Festival is scheduled at the Civil Square in Jiangqiao town of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District from June 21 to 24, which is also this year's Duanwu Festival holiday. The following are some highlights that you must not miss.
Handmade wooden handicrafts, such as ancient-style lanterns, are on display at the cultural bazaar. The wooden structure uses the mortise-and-tenon joining technique of classical Chinese architecture without a single nail. [Photo/WeChat account: zuijiangqiao]
At the cultural bazaar, visitors can try making a scented sachet, a traditional celebration for Duanwu Festival. The sachet contains cinnabar, realgar, and aromatic herbs and is usually wrapped in a silk cloth and sometimes embroidered with exquisite patterns. It is believed that wearing the sachet can help ward off the evil. [Photo/WeChat account: zuijiangqiao]
