On Oct 11, China Railway Shanghai Group welcomed the implementation of a new railway operating plan for the fourth quarter. The updated map allows for improved transportation options and increased capacity in the Yangtze River Delta region.
With the updated map in effect, Shanghai's direct station will see a daily total of 590 pairs of trains. This means in the number of Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed rail train pairs along the Yangtze River will increase from 10 to 38 (including one peak line).
Additionally, the map provides better connections to popular destinations such as Xiamen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanning, and Changsha, optimizing freight train operations.
Notably, the Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River will have 16 trains departing from Shanghai station.
Travel times have also been greatly improved, with the fastest journey from Shanghai to Jiangyin taking about an hour. Similarly, travel times from Shanghai to Wujin, Jintan, and Jurong have been greatly reduced.
These enhancements make travel much easier for residents along the line, including those in Jurong, Jintan, Wujin, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, and Taicang.
Moreover, the Shanghai Station of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-speed Railway will now have eight trains, providing a faster connection to Xiamen with a travel time of about five hours.
