Huaxin town in Shanghai's Qingpu district has transformed into a major logistics hub in China, housing industry giants like ZTO Express and YTO Express, along with over 300 logistics firms.
Statistics show that out of every 10 parcels delivered across China, seven are handled by companies based in Huaxin.
As of August this year, Huaxin town's tax revenue reached 4.98 billion yuan ($686.04 million), a 14.4 percent increase from the previous year. In 2023, Qingpu district's express logistics industry generated 156.8 billion yuan in revenue, accounting for 14.8 percent of the national total, with a significant portion originating from Huaxin.
The rapid evolution of China's e-commerce has further fueled Huaxin's growth. On Nov 11, 2023, Chinese postal and express companies processed a record 701 million parcels in a single day. Innovations in e-commerce, from traditional platforms to social and cross-border e-commerce, have driven new growth annually.
Recent data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in the first three quarters of 2024, China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports totaled 1.88 trillion yuan, an 11.5 percent increase year-on-year. This shift from domestic to international logistics and comprehensive solutions is becoming the industry norm.
As Huaxin town continues to innovate, it stands as a testament to the dynamic growth and potential of China's logistics sector.
