In preparation for the upcoming 48th WorldSkills Competition, President Francis Hourant and CEO David Hoey of WorldSkills International led a delegation to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai on Feb 27.
The visit was aimed at assessing the venue's readiness to host the prestigious global event, which is scheduled for Sept 22-27, 2026.
Wu Zhengping, deputy director-general of the China International Import Expo Bureau and chairman of the NECC (Shanghai), accompanied the delegation during the inspection. He provided a comprehensive overview of the venue's layout, facilities, functional amenities, and service initiatives.
Wu emphasized the NECC (Shanghai)'s status as a leading global exhibition complex and its extensive experience in hosting large-scale events. He assured the delegation that the center is committed to meeting the high standards required for the competition and will establish a dedicated service team to ensure the event's success.
The delegation toured various areas in the venue, including exhibition halls, dining facilities, the conference center, and the InterContinental Hotel. They engaged in detailed discussions about the specific requirements for the competition, expressing confidence in the NECC (Shanghai)'s ability to accommodate such a significant event.
The WorldSkills Competition is the world's premiere vocational skills competition, showcasing cutting-edge developments in vocational skills and serving as a vital platform for member countries to exchange expertise. The 48th edition of the competition promises to be a landmark event in the global vocational skills arena.
