ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation technologies, has announced the establishment of its new branch, ABB Electrification Technology Shanghai Co Ltd, in the Hongqiao Linkong Business Park in Shanghai.
This move comes after the successful acquisition of Siemens' wiring accessories business in China, further solidifying ABB's leadership in the Chinese home electrical market and highlighting the company's long-term growth strategy in the region.
This strategic expansion is part of ABB's broader plans to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the Chinese market, particularly in the realms of artificial intelligence and digitalization. The new branch will focus on switches, sockets, home and building automation, terminal distribution, and energy consumption management.
"Shanghai has provided significant support in terms of company registration and tax processes, allowing us to start operating within just nine months," said Mike Mustapha, president of the Smart Buildings Division at ABB Group.
Zou Enchang, head of ABB Electric Smart Building Asia Pacific, explained the company's strategic choice of location. "Shanghai was selected due to our long-standing presence here, coupled with the city's international influence, strong transportation links, rich technological environment, and advanced digital infrastructure."
