Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport welcomed travelers with the melodious sounds of the accordion, as it celebrated the eighth International Accordion Culture and Arts Week, a key event of the 2026 Shanghai Spring International Music Festival.
The airport's Terminal 2 arrival hall became a vibrant stage for performances ranging from traditional Shanghai tunes to modern adaptations. Many travelers paused to enjoy the music, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
"I felt like music was welcoming me the moment I stepped off the plane," said Ms Zhang from Hong Kong, while John and his wife, Michel, from the United Kingdom appreciated how music can engage people in a public space.
"This is a fresh and exhilarating experience, with a big stage, open space, and diverse international crowd," said Lev Solomonovich, a young accordionist from Moldova, who performed "Let us be free" with dynamic notes and expressive movements that resonated with the audience.
