The Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD) marked its remarkable achievements over the past four years at a news conference on March 21.
Last year, the district saw significant foreign trade growth, with a 13-percent year-on-year increase in imports and exports of goods and an 80.9-percent year-on-year rise in service trade.
The CBD has become a beacon of the headquarters economy and a magnet for major enterprises. Over the past four years, it has introduced over 600 key projects with investments exceeding 300 billion yuan ($41.3 billion). The district now hosts 242 municipal-level certified headquarters, including those of international giants like Bosch and Innovent Biologics.
The district has also made progress in building a modern service industry cluster, with globally renowned professional service enterprises like KPMG and ManpowerGroup setting up operations there.
The launch of its "Going Global" service platform and the establishment of the Hongqiao International Central Legal-services District further enhanced its global business appeal.

In 2024, international exhibitions held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in the district accounted for 83 percent of the total, with the exhibition area exceeding 8 million square meters – a record high.

The district's multi-layered transportation system has been continuously enhanced, with new railways and airport connections opening and metro extensions under construction. The district is also working with nearby cities on low-altitude economic projects, and intercity flight routes are progressing smoothly.
