The Yangtze River Delta (YRD) E-sports Industry Integration Research Center, a highlight of the fifth Yangtze River Delta Sports Festival, was recently inaugurated in Shanghai to boost the integrated development of the e-sports industry within the YRD region.
The center seeks to create an innovative platform for fostering exchanges, collaborations, and industry-academia-research links within the YRD region's e-sports sector, driving the comprehensive integration of e-sports talent, resources, and industries across the region.
The center is located at the LOOP Star Ring Center, a key component of the Shanghai E-sports Center in the Minhang area of the Hongqiao International Central Business District.
The Shanghai E-sports Center represents one of the largest global investments in e-sports, underpinning Shanghai's ambition to become the "global e-sports capital". Its LOOP Star Ring Center has become a premier venue for major e-sports competitions, attracting renowned e-sports teams such as Alliance, BAODA, and YZG.
"This location effectively links the Yangtze River Delta, offering significant advantages," said Zhu Qinqin, secretary-general of the Shanghai E-sports Association. "The Shanghai E-sports Center is a powerful draw for market entities. This new research center will act as a catalyst for regional industry chain integration, attracting more e-sports enterprises and fostering cross-industry collaboration."
E-sports association representatives at the center's launch ceremony emphasized the potential for deeper YRD collaboration among Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui. They highlighted the importance of developing unique regional features to foster healthy competition and mutual growth in the e-sports and gaming sectors.
