A group of representatives from consulates general in Shanghai took part in the "Discover Hongqiao, Discover CIIE" event on June 12 in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD), home to the permanent venue of the China International Import Expo (CIIE).

In a bid to enhance international exchanges and highlight Hongqiao's role in China's opening-up, the event invited over 30 consuls general, deputy consuls general, and consuls, and representatives from more than 20 countries to visit several key locations in the CBD.

At the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center, attendees learned about its "one-stop" service for cross-border investment and trade compliance, designed to assist Chinese companies in going global. Some consuls expressed interest in collaborating through the center.

The delegation also visited the Hongqiao International Talents Service Center to learn about the district's strategies for attracting and retaining talent.

In Panlong Tiandi, delegates appreciated the area's cultural diversity and potential as a cultural and tourism landmark for international exchanges.

Kong Fu'an, Party secretary and executive deputy director of the CBD's administrative committee, provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in the business district regarding its openness to foreign investment, convention and exhibition economy, industrial layout, and technological innovation.

Kong highlighted the district's unique advantages in terms of location, policy, environment, and talent pool, noting that its favorable investment environment has attracted numerous high-level headquarters.

He also shared the district's current focus on assisting enterprises in going global, continuously gathering specialized resources, and enhancing international service capabilities to support enterprises in their global market expansion efforts.

The consuls also visited the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) and the CIIE Cultural Exhibition Center to learn about the development of the CIIE and the preparations being made for the upcoming eighth edition.

During their visit, the representatives said they will encourage enterprises from their respective countries to participate actively in the eighth CIIE so that they can seize new opportunities in the Chinese market.
