Since its trial operations began in March 2024, the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center has made great progress in facilitating foreign investment and helping Chinese enterprises go global.
Located in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD), the center brings together many different resources and fosters collaboration, emphasizing precise empowerment. It serves as a comprehensive platform for government-enterprise interaction.
It has established collaborative relationships with over 500 specialized partners, including international organizations and legal and human resource agencies. It has hosted over 170 events involving investment opportunities, industry expansion, financial compliance, and comprehensive exchanges, reaching over 4,000 enterprises in more than 30 countries.
One of its partners, KPMG China, located in the CBD, recently collaborated with the center to hold a series of events to help enterprises adjust their internationalization strategies. Li Yao, a partner at KPMG China, highlighted the district's geographic advantages and resource platforms that help attract clients and deepen market penetration.
To support regional collaboration, the center received official government visits from cities like Hefei and Jinhua and engaged with business associations in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces. It has also created an online project database to facilitate cross-border investments.
Looking ahead, the center plans to enhance its services by establishing regional branches and expanding its overseas network. It aims to offer comprehensive guidance and support for enterprises, including visa services and detailed country-specific and industry-specific guidance.
