Shanghai is moving ever closer to making low-altitude air travel within the city a reality with the successful test flight of a new route from the Hongqiao Hub in the Hongqiao International Central Business District to Fuxing Island in Yangpu district on July 24.
The test flight is seen as being an important step in connecting the Hongqiao Hub to the Yangtze River Delta's growing low-altitude transportation network.
The new travel option, called "City Fly", is rapidly gaining in popularity.
The operator, Shanghai Newsky, aims to connect Hongqiao with 16 nearby districts and counties by the end of the year, promising faster and more efficient travel across the region.
It's already launched several routes that link Pudong's Xingye Base with 16 nearby districts and counties — establishing a replicable operational model.
