At the 2025 Game Business Conference in Shanghai, a service platform for mini-games was launched in the North Hongqiao Business District — to help Chinese gaming companies expand their reach globally.
The platform was designed to support small and medium-sized gaming enterprises by connecting them with international resources in distribution, payments, advertising and operations — reducing barriers to their overseas expansion.
Mini-games — known for their lightweight design and rapid development cycles — have become a new growth driver in overseas expansion. As the Chinese gaming industry continues to rise, these games are gaining traction internationally.
North Hongqiao — part of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District or CBD — has emerged as a key hub for the gaming industry. It's home to over 180 companies involved in all aspects of gaming — from development to distribution — and has also been the launchpad for several globally successful games.
The Hongqiao CBD is spreading its efforts to help companies go global. Its Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center now offers a one-stop solution for enterprises to facilitate the cross-border flow of talent, technology and capital.
With over 500 professional partners, it provides services like foreign investment consultations and data intellectual property management to ease the entry of companies into global markets.
By combining the strengths of the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center and the service platform for mini-games, the Hongqiao CBD aims to be a model for globalizing China's gaming industry. The effort seeks to ensure that innovative Chinese games reach international audiences.
