The China Catering Global Summit, held in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District on Jan 14, opened a new chapter in the globalization of Chinese cuisine.
The event brought together nearly 800 representatives from government departments, industry associations, well-known restaurant brands, investment institutions, supply chain companies, and overseas Chinese communities.
This summit aimed to create a platform for collaboration and innovation in the Chinese food industry. It seeks to help Chinese culinary brands expand internationally and overcome challenges in global markets, with the ultimate goal of making Chinese flavors beloved worldwide.
Kong Fu'an, a senior official from the Hongqiao International CBD, highlighted Hongqiao's role as a launchpad for businesses from the Yangtze River Delta region to enter global markets. He said Hongqiao is becoming a hub for international business and will offer strong support for industries like food and beverage to explore new opportunities.
Qian Zhenhua, president of the Shanghai International Cooperation Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, said Chinese cuisine is now at a strategic turning point, with great potential for global expansion. The association will support this growth by fostering international cooperation and communication.
The summit featured discussions and idea exchanges between leaders from pioneering Chinese brands and international organizations. It also unveiled a white paper on the globalization of Chinese cuisine and recognized outstanding contributions in the field.
