The second Viva Latino festival at Hongqiao Xintiandi, also known as THE HUB, in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, is turning Latin American culture into an immersive consumer experience by combining food, music, performances, sports and nighttime consumption.
Held from June 5 to 7 and June 12 to 14, the event is part of Global Taste in Shanghai 2026 and its Americas Flavors season, as well as Shanghai's efforts to enrich nighttime consumption. With support from the consulates general of Peru, Chile and Argentina in Shanghai, the festival has been upgraded through cooperation with Hongqiao Pinhui, an import commodity exhibition and trade center.
Yang Xubo, deputy director of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Commission, said last year's event had become a successful example of cross-cultural exchange and consumption promotion. Alberto Canas of the Consulate General of Chile in Shanghai called it a celebration of Latin America's spirit, flavors and rhythm.
This year's festival features a Latin American market, cultural performances, workshops and interactive challenges. Visitors can experience Chilean wine, Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, Argentine mate, Colombian cocoa, Peruvian alpaca dolls and Mexican tacos, along with Brazilian capoeira, samba, Zumba, DJ shows and football performances.
With World Cup-themed dining packages, shopping incentives and merchant promotions, the festival links culture, commerce, sports and tourism, helping Xintiandi attract more international cultural resources to Shanghai.
