The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Commission held its first government open day of 2026 on Aug 12, inviting residents to learn about the area's development and future plans.
Resident representatives visited the Hongqiao International CBD Exhibition Hall, Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center, Hongqiao International Talent Service Center, Hongqiao Overseas Trade Center, and the CAE Academicians and Experts Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Center.
Through on-site presentations and displays, they learned about the CBD's development, key functions and industrial strengths. They also saw how it supports companies expanding abroad, attracts talent and promotes the real-world application of scientific achievements.
At a discussion session, officials introduced the CBD's priorities for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), including upgrading its core functions, optimizing its spatial layout and improving its urban quality.
Residents also raised questions about education, employment, talent services and regional cooperation, while officials responded to their concerns and explained relevant policies.
The CBD said it will review the suggestions collected during the event and use them to improve government services. It will also continue to strengthen communication with residents and work with different sectors to support the area's development.
