Nearly 100 government officials, industry representatives and business executives from Shanghai, Hong Kong and Thailand gathered in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District on Aug 23 for an event focused on international cooperation in the low-altitude economy.
Organized by the Hongqiao Yangtze River Delta Low-altitude Economy Exhibition and Trade Center, the event brought together representatives from more than 50 companies.
A Thai delegation led by Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, visited the exhibition and trade center, known as Low-altitude Hub, before the event. They viewed technologies such as electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, hydrogen-powered drones, agricultural drones, low-altitude security systems and flight simulators.
The forum focused on opportunities for cooperation among Shanghai, Hong Kong and Thailand. Manat said Thailand and China could leverage their respective strengths to develop more advanced technology and stronger industrial partnerships in the low-altitude sector.
Chow Wing-hang, deputy director of the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said Hong Kong would work to bring domestic and international standards into alignment and support cooperation on low-altitude industry standards.
The event provided a platform for companies in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Thailand to exchange ideas and explore cooperation. Five companies presented their technologies and overseas plans, including applications in drones and low-altitude services.
Low-altitude Hub plans to hold more international events and use Hongqiao's role as an international transport and business hub to support cooperation between Chinese low-altitude companies and overseas markets.
