A matchmaking conference to help companies expand into Southeast Asia was held in Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District on Sept 16, bringing together more than 70 representatives from businesses, financial institutions, industry associations and overseas industrial parks.
Organized around cross-industry cooperation, market opportunities and targeted resource matching, the event aimed to help Yangtze River Delta companies navigate overseas expansion and strengthen their presence in ASEAN markets.
Speakers shared practical experience in sectors including new energy, automotive manufacturing, environmental protection and financial services. Dong Chongfeng, general manager of the International Cooperation Center at the Going Global Base, said China's auto industry had developed overseas expansion models, localized operations and compliance systems that could offer a reference for new energy and equipment manufacturers.
Zhang Mingjie, chairman of Gotion High-tech's Shanghai base, highlighted the value of partnerships with vehicle manufacturers and localized operations. Sun Ping, chairman of Suzhou Hante Environmental Protection Engineering Co Ltd, stressed that environmental compliance and low-carbon smart manufacturing were increasingly important for companies entering overseas markets.
Participants also examined how data-driven market analysis could help companies assess opportunities and risks across Southeast Asia's 11 countries. Financial service providers presented support ranging from offshore accounts and trade financing to foreign exchange risk management.
Representatives from industrial parks introduced investment opportunities and facilities in Cambodia and Vietnam, including the Cambodia-China (Shanghai) Business Center, Vietnam's Xingfu Industrial Zone and Hailong Industrial Park.
The Belt and Road High-Quality Development Promotion Association of the Yangtze River Delta said it would continue connecting companies with resources in compliance, financing, talent, industrial parks and sales channels, building practical platforms to support coordinated overseas expansion.
The event sought to turn market insights and business connections into concrete opportunities for regional companies pursuing long-term growth in Southeast Asia.
