Icell was established in Shanghai in 2010, with a primary focus on developing cutting-edge new drugs worldwide. By 2023, the company had relocated to Hongqiao Linkong Business Park and set up its Shanghai headquarters in the International Business Park.

In the realm of cell therapy, particularly targeting challenging diseases like acute graft-versus-host disease post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and Parkinson's disease, Icell has partnered with several leading tertiary hospitals in China to carry out stem cell clinical research projects.

China currently has over 5 million Parkinson's patients, representing approximately 38.08 percent of global cases. Parkinson's disease stems from the deterioration and demise of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain's substantia nigra, resulting in diminished dopamine synthesis. Effective treatments for the condition are presently lacking.

"Our proprietary human amniotic epithelial stem cells can impede the progression of Parkinson's symptoms and ameliorate conditions," explained a representative of Icell.

In conjunction with Shanghai East Hospital, Icell has concluded a national stem cell clinical research program titled "stereotactic transplantation of human amniotic epithelial stem cells for Parkinson's disease". The project is actively preparing for an investigative new drug application to launch pivotal clinical trials post-approval.

Simultaneously, Icell has overcome a number of conventional technical hurdles in cell preservation. Following five years of intensive research, it has achieved the "painless collection, one-time storage, and lifelong use" of autologous adipose stem cell storage.

In June 2024, the company introduced the "Ten-Thousand-Person Storage Program" to the market, having already stored thousands of samples, laying a robust groundwork for future personalized therapies.
