Construction of the new Guotai Shanghai Center was recently completed in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District — located on Gaochao Road in the Jiading district of the city — and it's expected to become a key hub for business and innovation.
Funded by international business and trade services provider Jiangsu Guotai International Group and costing nearly 2 billion yuan ($278.65 million), the center includes five Grade A office buildings and support facilities.
The company is a China-based diversified trading and industrial group, primarily engaged in the import and export of textiles, apparel, chemicals and light industrial products.
With a total floor space of 172,000 square meters, it will host activities like clothing research and development, sample displays, business negotiations and new product launches.
"The prime location and excellent transport links make the center ideal for our international operations hub," said Chen Xiaodong, president of Jiangsu Guotai International Group.
"It will offer comprehensive business services to global clients and provide office space for them to establish their China headquarters," Chen added.
The center aims to focus on emerging industries in the region. It plans to create an innovative ecosystem that combines corporate headquarters, research and services.
"Several companies are interested in joining us," Chen said. "We aim to make this a leading platform for business growth," he added.
The Guotai Shanghai Center is expected to attract top personnel and innovative resources — boosting the development of key industries in North Hongqiao and establishing it as a new hub for business headquarters.
