Chinese medical device giant Wego aspires for its Wego Medical Park in Shanghai to be the preferred choice for global medical technology professionals and Chinese companies looking to expand internationally, according to Operations Manager Wen Sailan.
Wen explained that Wego aims to create a platform that supports its own innovations. But it also wants its platform to help the broader medical device and healthcare industries go global and to bring in new opportunities.
Located in the Hongqiao International Central Business District, the park works with the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center to provide policy guidance and connect businesses with international networks. In particular, it offers specialized support for Chinese medical device companies in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Through the collaboration, the park has organized various activities to help companies quickly access essential resources — reducing the time and effort needed to enter new markets.
On Sept 19, a joint service base was launched to support companies throughout their international expansion journey, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal barriers to entry.
Wen said the Hongqiao CBD offered vast opportunities for business growth. She added that its strengths in transportation, commerce, exhibitions and innovation — along with support policies — boost both Wego's growth and the local medical device industry globally.
In line with the Yangtze River Delta integration and the Belt and Road Initiative, Wego Medical Park wants to be both a facilitator and a platform provider.
Moving forward, it will help companies to participate in international exhibitions and events, seek policy support to lower costs and risks and develop tailored resources for markets like the United Kingdom, Japan and Southeast Asia.
