On Sept 26, the 17th Logistics and Supply Chain Digitalization Development Conference was held in Shanghai — and a highlight was the unveiling of a new Hongqiao Global Supply Chain Management Center Agglomeration Area.
The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Committee, and the Minhang district government launched the project.
A global supply chain management center operates as a corporate unit or independent entity. It uses digital technologies to integrate global supply chains and ensure efficient flows of goods, trade, data and capital.
The CBD already hosts such centers for Orient International, Bosch and YTO Express. It will leverage its strengths in transport, exhibitions, commerce, sci-tech innovation and institutional openness to gather more — forming a hub that links the Yangtze River Delta, serves the nation and connects globally.

Organizers announced an action plan with three pillars — cultivating leading enterprises, expanding global reach and enhancing key elements — aiming to attract supply chain management centers to drive digital, green and international growth.
The plan assigns roles across districts. The Minhang district will focus on commodities, industrial e-commerce and life-health services and Changning district will boost digital trade.
Qingpu district will develop logistics and consumer-goods chains and Jiading district will upgrade auto parts and medical device services.
The Hongqiao International CBD will use platforms — such as the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center — to support overseas investment, expand distribution networks, establish warehouses abroad and pilot cross-border data and certification initiatives.
